#418: Submitting Your CV Online

Be mindful of where and how you share your CV. When searching for a job, it can be tempting to upload your resume or CV to multiple websites without fully considering who will have access to it. However, you should always know where your document is being posted and who can view it.

If your CV includes sensitive personal information such as your full legal name, home address, or other identifying details, you should be especially cautious. Never include highly confidential information like your Social Security number. Your resume or CV should be treated with the same care and discretion as any important legal document.

Remember, your CV represents your professional identity. If it ends up in the wrong hands, it could put your personal information at risk. Take a moment to review what you’re sharing and where you’re sharing it before you click “submit.”
